We are pleased to announce the second annual Coastwise Mile in La Jolla. This scenic course travels along Prospect Street through the historic La Jolla Village to Coast Blvd before a spectacular ocean view finish at Ellen Browning Scripps Park! Whether you're a collegiate sprinter, a new mom, or just looking for a new challenge, this event is for you!

EVENT DIVISIONS & CATEGORIES
Which division are you in? We are offering different categories for all types of runners. New this year is the 5k Run - and yes, you can do both the 1 mile and the 5k run! Choose between Age Group, Elite, the Corporate Relay (made up of 3 runners), the Mutt Mile (bring your dog) and the Baby Jogger Division (bring out your baby and spend the day with other parents). There is no minimum age for the babies (but doctors recommend waiting to run until they can hold their head up). We will also be having Tot Trots on the grass for kids, ages 2-10!

DIVISIONS:
11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+, Baby Jogger, Corporate Relay (teams of 3 - mens, womens, co-ed - best cumulative time wins), Mutt Mile (this must be a dog and a human owner), Mens Elite, Womens Elite.

CORPORATE CHALLENGE
Start a Team. Choose a Cause. Race & Raise Funds. The Corporate Challenge is a team event for businesses designed to help build teamwork across departments and promote fitness and giving within the workplace. Your co-workers will train to run or walk in the Coastwise Mile while raising funds for a cause of your choice. Click here for more info.

KIDS RACES
We will be having 3 different Kids Races for kids of varying ages. All of the runs will be on grass and parents are welcome to run with younger age groups. Ages 0-4 will run ~50 yards / Ages 5-7 will run ~250 yards, Ages 8-10 will run ~500 yards.

ELITE WAVE
Elites will be competing for $1000 in prize money in both the 1 mile and 5k events! First place overall (both male and female) get $250, Second place gets $150, and Third place gets $100 . Email for elite entry forms. Or via phone at 310.821.7898.

THE MUTT MILE
The Mutt Mile kicks off @ 7:30am. So bring your canine compadre and run/walk a mile. All dogs must have their shots (and be up to date). And all dogs must be on a leash (8' max length). We will also be having a costume contest @ 7:15am prior to the run (so the dogs don't have to run in their costumes). So come out and have some fun at the park, and stop by the San Diego Humane Society booth. Please note that due to City Regulations all dogs must vacate the park by 9:00am.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I have to be fast?
Nope. We have people of all ages and abilities. Yes there are very fast people, but all that we require is that you are committed to living a healthy life and ready to push yourself and others. If you are new to working out or just returning, come on out and talk with the elite athletes. The event is for everyone to exercise, challenge themselves and others, AND have fun.

What do I need to bring?
Just your running shoes, confirmation of registration (or money for registration) and prepare to have a great morning. Note: Headphones are not allowed on the run course!!!! So leave your iPod at home.

How can I prepare?
Join your local health club or running club. The race is a mile so it does take some preparation. We will be offering training runs prior to the race check the event website for dates and times.

What is the refund policy?
Similar to a concert, there are no refunds. Also note, that event dates and course changes may happen and are usually beyond the control of the event producers, and will not be cause for a refund. If an event is postponed, the entries will be forwarded to the new event date.

VOLUNTEER
Volunteers are integral and crucial elements in making our events viable. Volunteer tasks include, among others: providing aid, water and food, keeping runners on course, cheering runners on and keeping spirits up. They are also there to have fun and enjoy the experience of the race from a different perspective. And most importantly, they make the race safer for everyone involved!

You’ve probably seen and thanked many volunteers at past events, but what better way to say thanks and give back than to be a volunteer yourself? After your experience, you will appreciate the volunteers at future events that much more!

In exchange you’ll get a goody bag and refreshments but, more importantly, you will be rewarded with the pride in knowing you helped to make the event happen, and that many runners finished because of the help you offered.

If you would like to volunteer or need more information, please contact us at 310.821.7898 or send an email to info@genericevents.com!
